Code 95 is a document required for truck drivers who want to work professionally within Europe. It is also mandatory for drivers from Ukraine and other countries outside of the EU.

Costs

In a world where transport plays a significant role in economic activity as well as the movement of people and goods, professional driving skills are increasingly becoming an indispensable asset. However, acquiring this skill isn't cheap. You have to be aware of a range of costs, such as the cost of training and the exam. In the Netherlands the process of obtaining Code 95 may cost as up to 3000 euros. The cost of obtaining this certificate in Poland could be as low as 1500 to 2000 PLN.

For truck drivers, a Code 95 certificate is necessary for trucks weighing more than 7.5 tons in Europe. The certificate has to be added to a driver's license category C or C+E and is valid for five years. It is also possible to add it to the C1 or C1E license which permits the driver to drive trailers with lighter weights.

You must pass a psychological test and a medical examination to receive the Code 95 Certificate. After completing the course you will receive a plastic Code 95 Certificate that can be included in your driving license. The price of the course includes a medical examination, PKZ service, payment for the plastic Code 95 certificate, and theoretical lessons.

The cost of the Code 95 Certificate is the same as other types of driving lessons. It is important to note that the course must be offered at a CBR-approved driving academy. The CBR has strict guidelines that trainers must adhere to. Trainers must immediately notify the CBR if, for example, a student is absent.

After the course, the student must visit the Road Traffic Safety Directorate to apply for a new licence. The deadline for renewing the licence is six months from the date of completion of the course. This requirement is intended to ensure that the driver has the necessary level of knowledge and competence for driving a heavy vehicle. The driver must also be aware of how to read the speed limit and kilometer signs that are posted on the road.

Options for training

Code 95 is a proof on a driving license that you have completed the requirements for training to drive trucks and buses professionally. It is a requirement that you must meet every five years to renew your driving license. The periodical training of 35 hours can be completed at a driving academy or at home using online learning. It is possible to spread out the course over the five-year period. The courses are often covered by your employer.

There are two types of instruction for Code 95: the long course and the short. The long course runs for approximately four weeks long and culminates with a federal exam. After passing the exam you will be issued an electronic card. The card must be submitted into the database of unified European certificates. The school where you attended your classes will submit it to the database. It will take 14 days to process the card.

The long course costs around 2,000 PLN and the examination is 300 PLN. You will also have to pay a fee for the school to submit your certificate to the unifying European database. When the card is approved you can pick it up at the school.

To be able to provide a course of training that issue Code 95, you must adhere to certain guidelines as trainer. First you must submit a plan of training to the CBR. This plan of training must be approved prior the beginning of classes. You will also be required to follow other strict procedures throughout the course.

Once you have successfully completed the training, you will be awarded a certificate of ongoing training from the CBR. The certificate can be mailed to the RDW. If the application is successful, you'll be able to renew your license with the municipality. If you don't renew your license by the expiration date, you are not able to operate trucks or buses professionally for more than 12 hours per week. You'll need to complete another course of instruction if you want to drive for more than 12 hours a week.

Exams

To obtain the code 95 designation on your license you must pass both the theoretical and practical tests. These tests can be taken separately, or as part of the acquisition of a basic category licence at a driving academy. On successful completion of the test, you'll receive a certificate aswell as a code 95 certificate. The card is valid for 5 years and has to be renewed before the expiration date.

Depending on the course of study and the type of training you choose, you can opt for short or long-term courses to prepare for the code 95 exam. The long course lasts about four weeks and concludes with a governmental exam. In this test, you are asked to answer 30 questions regarding the topics covered in your classes.

You must complete a minimum of 35 hours of regular training every five years after passing the code 95 test. You can do this in the country in which you live or work. The periodic training is done with an instructor. The CBR provides an online tool for finding an instructor. Once you've completed the training, you will receive an official certificate from your instructor and Prawo jazdy B1 the CBR. The CBR will inform the RDW of your completion.

You must also have a digital tachograph for vehicles that weigh more than 3,500kg. The tachograph tracks the duration of driving and rest times and saves them to the tachograph card. To operate a truck, you must possess a driver's licence C. This is the largest driver's licence in Europe. In the Netherlands, the requirement is that you pass the initial qualification for professional drivers at the Central Office for Motor Vehicle Driver Testing (Centraal Bureau Rijvaardigheidsbewijzen, or CBR, in Dutch). You must also undergo an exam for medical conditions.

For passenger vehicles and buses, you must also hold a driving license C or D. The requirements for bus drivers differ than those for trucks, as they need to pass a written test and an oral exam. They also require a code85, which is a professional certification.

Requirements

This is a mandatory step for truckers wanting to work in the Netherlands. This mark on a driver's licence proves that they meet the (training) requirements for professional truck drivers (Certificate of Professional Competence, Verklaring van Vakbekwaamheid). Without it truck drivers aren't permitted to operate professionally for more than 12 hours per week.

The course for code95 is a combination of theoretical and practical training. The theoretical training is a mix of classroom instruction as well as online learning. Online learning is carried out through a specific website. This way, you can participate in classes at any time and from any location. The theoretical portion comprises a total of 35 academic classes. Additionally, you will be able to complete various online testing tasks and tests.

If you are planning to transport dangerous items, you will have to take a separate ADR basic training course (18 hours). This will give you a five-year ADR driver's training certificate. All professional drivers of vehicles carrying dangerous goods must take this course.

In 2011, a new style of licence for trucks as well as buses was introduced. This is a laminated driver's licence card that looks similar to the European driving licence card. It contains the driver's photo and name (in Latin or Cyrillic) along with the date and location of issue, the categories allowed, and the signature. The older booklet-style and credit-card licences are no longer valid.
